Thx 4 comments on Panasonic...I got the Canon S20!

Thanks to everyone who gave such great feedback on the Panasonic PalmCam. I got both good and bad reviews on it from y'all but it was all very insightful.

After a LOT of thinking, I finally decided to get the Canon PowerShot S20. Reviews all gave it high marks for picture quality, 3.3Megapixel resolution, etc. etc. I got it from Abes of Maine for a great price - $679 (we bought 2 so they gave us an additional $20 off, so we actually paid $659 each). No, I don't work for Abes, just thought it was a good price that I'd share with you. (Send me an email if you'd like the salesman's name that I worked the deal with.)

The package arrived yesterday and I shot my first digital pictures last evening - a bit different than with a 35mm, for sure. I've got some "learnin'" to do. Tried to shoot pictures of our cats but don't have the timing to capture a moving target yet - my attempt at a nonmoving teddy bear was much more successful. If anyone is interested in seeing what this camera can do right out of the box by a "digital novice" I did upload one picture. You can see it at http://www.websiteauthor.com/teddy.html - I just love the sharpness of the image - look at the texture in the candle and the teddy bear's fur on the full size shot.

Now I'm hooked on this - I'll probably buy the lens/filter adapter and Kenko lens from CKC Power that was rated so highly at Steve's.

Does anyone have experience using the adapter and lens with the Canon S10 or S20? (Looks like it works great with the Nikon 800 & 950.)

Anyway, thanks for your great comments and for this forum - I'll be sure to visit it frequently! Jeff
