'Hot Mirror' Filters

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I've just purchased a Sony DSC-F505 to replace my FD91. Would it benefit from the addition of a hot mirror filter? I can find no mention of a 'low pass' filter in front of the CCD and local camera stores (including Wolf) don't seem to know what I'm talking about. They had better wake up or be left in the digital dust. Most of my shots will be outside, taking advantage of the F505's Carl Zeiss 5x lens. Also, will the EV setting have to be increased, decreased, or will the program AE be able to compensate. (i.e., is there enough latitude built in to the preprogrammed algorithm) Thanks in advance for your responses.
