Who deserves an emmy nomination?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

In my opinion, Alex Kingston and Laura Innes deserve nominations for the emmy awards this year. Both are outstanding actresses and are totally believeable doctors. Also, I think Michael Michele should receive an emmy for "Least expression ever expressed by a female actress in a drama series." Does anyone agree/disagree?

I think that Julianna Margulies deserves an Emmy nomination for her work in "Great Expectations." She was absolutely fabulous!! I was completely in awe, believed every minute that she was in labor, yet knowing that JM has never given birth. Wow!! Blew me away!! :-)

Never given birth? uhh, by then hadnt she had her kids already in real life?

I have to agree with you :) I think ALex Kingston does great in every episode (especially in the one about the killer and of course All In The Family) and Laura Innes also is wonderful. I really wish that Romano (can't remember his name) would get one. Although I hated him in the begin, I really respect the work he does on the show. It's not easy being the "hated one" :)

Great question! I'd say...Noah Wyle for "All in the Family", or "Be Still My Heart," and Alex Kingston...Paul McCrane plays Rocket, by the way.

all the way! i mean soon julianna will be leaving, then its will be laura and kerry as main actresses. ok its julianna,s last season so everyone wants her to win! she really deserves it , but alex should win something! and , a nomination for carter or mark please?

Noah Wyle definatly deserves an Emmy!!

First, Julianna Margulies doesn't have any children in real life, so "Great Expectations" was a show of great acting. Kellie Martin was great in "Be Still My Heart", but unfortunately, I don't think this is enough to earn her an Emmy nod. I think Laura Innes and Alex Kingston should definately be nominated--even if it means they'll compete against each other. Paul McCrane "Rocket" should also get a nod for supporting actor. I also think Anthony Edwards should got nominated--he's so reliably good that some people forget that he too deserves recognition. I hope people realize that a show doesn't have to be on cable (The Sopranos) to be good. ER FOR BEST DRAMA!!!

I will be very upset if Noah Wyle doesn't get nominated. He's done incredible and I know he will have even more emmy worthy scenes. He's very believable. I would love to see Kellie Martin get nominated, but I regret to agree that she will probably end up being overlooked. Julianna Margulies was amazing in Great Expectations. Alex Kingston is growing on me, I wonder if they will consider her. I am also sincerely hoping The Sopranos (which some of us don't even watch because it's on CABLE) and other new dramas do not dominate the awards again.

Anna - Julianna doesn't have any kids.

As for the Emmys, if Julianna doesn't win this year for "Great Expectations" there will be hell to pay. She's simply extraordinary. I also expect Laura Innes to be nominated this year.

I definatly think that Noah Wyle deserves a emmy nomination for leading actor, for this season, especially for All in the Family and Be still my Heart. He did some excellent acting in those to episodes. In All in the Family, especially in that scene where they put the cathiter (I think that's what that was) in and he yelped out in pain I felt that pain as well. Superb Job.

I also think Julianna Margulis should be nominated for a leading actress, for her work in Great Expectations. If they make her exit as good as that episode I'm positive she'll end up with a nomination if not a win.

And finally I think Alex Kingston and Eriq La Salle should be up for supporting actor/actress. Alex Kingston has always, in general portrayed Elizabeth very well, and this season maybe the her best one yet. And as for Eriq La Salle, his attitude toward Carter since the stabbing has been beautiful.

Good Luck to all cast Members.

JULIANNA ALL THE WAY!!!

rocket and romano are the same person, hence the name "rocket" romano. It seemed like some were confused over that issue. Plus, good luck to all cast, crew, production members come the emmy's!

Definitely Noah for the "stabbing" episode, even before he hits the floor...the agony in his body language and then twhen he hits the floor and sees Lucy...the silent "lightbulb"that goes off between them...absolutely fabulous. I also thingk the little boy who lost both parents in the car accident...what an amazing 4 minutes! When he husgs his "mamma"...Tissues all around!

Definately Noah Wyle has my vote for the Emmy. Like several of you, I hope Kellie Martin is nominated. She said so much in "All in the Family" just with her facial expressions without saying more than her whispered "Thank you". Alex Kingston and JM would be great, too. I must say, though, that I really like Laura Innes this season.

I'm all for Noah Wyle. He's the cutest one on the show!

-- Jen (sjcpuma@yahoo.com), March 31, 2000.

Not that I'm disagreeing with you, Jen, but I don't think they have an emmy for being cute. I'm hoping all the stars of ER get recognized this year though. I'm still scratching my head over last year: Sopranos and Sex in the City. What was THAT all about? I don't know one person who watches either. And they're on HBO so everyone can't get them anyway. I tried them, but...yawn...don't watch them.

-- Diana (dilynne@juno.com), March 31, 2000.

Diana, I'm with you. Cable shows have their own awards, The Cable Ace Awards. Network shows aren't eligible for those, so cable shows shouldn't be eligible for the Emmys. I don't have sour grapes. I just think that voters like Cable better because they can say bad words and show nudity. It doesn't take good acting to flash bare a--es and breasts on the television. Anyway, so I digress, go ER!!!!

-- Carin (cdenisehaze@usa.net), March 31, 2000.

I totally agree that Noah Wyle deserves an Emmy and just something odd I noticed: I was reading some of the past episode reviews and summaries 'cause I haven't been watching for too long, and in practically all of them Carter has eith gotton a look of the week nod or won. Just some proof.

-- Cai (mohawk@xmission.com), March 31, 2000.

Laura, Laura, Laura!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (but she didn't get it, Maura did. Oh, well, Abby's cool.)And at least she got a nomination for her directing (on the WW). I think Sailing Away should have been the ER episode to get a nomination for directing, not The Visit. Don't get me wrong, The Visit was a wonderful episode; I still can't watch the scene where Jessi dies, and I really did love the rest of it, it is pobably one of the top 5 of season 7, but as far as directing goes, Sailing Away rocks!!! Especially the scene with Carter and Abby talking on the phone to Rena and Luka and you thought they were talking to each other; although I would have liked a bith scene for Ella, but that has nothing to do with directing, that's the script writers fault.
