James, We have almost the same system & software loaded, the only difference is my ATI AIW is PCI.But here's the answer, First capture the video as avi files, I used VCR2 settings, size 352X240, you can use 480 resolution but this will create a huge avi files.Always limit yuor capture to 30mins or 2 gigs limitation. Then after I capture it I encoded it using LSX Encoder V.3 to create mpg file and burned it with my Acer 4x4xx32 CDr. Use 2x option before you record it to CD-R. The quality will be aceptable, But If you a large capacity hardisk, use 480 resolution and this will better than 240 resolution. You're wondering maybe, Why Do I have to capture it as AVi not directly as MPEG-1 file?Believe me, I tried this before but the quality was not so good, for me quality is important. There's a lot to consider in capturing mpeg Vs Avi. First, capturing Avi take a lot of time (30mins movie=1 1/2 hr to encode to mpg)while mpeg-1, just push the button,That it! but the quality suffers. And take note, both of our systems are not capable of producing super quality VCD's unless we add Real-Time Hardware decoder used by professional-cost maybe around $800,so expensive. So, to get the most acceptable VCD quality is to capture it as Avi then encode it to LSX enmpeg encoder.Try this let me know if it will work for you.
