INDIANAPOLIS (AP) -- A Delta Express 737 bound for Orlando aborted takeoff after one of its engines caught fire at Indianapolis International Airport, officials said.

No passengers were injured when an engine on the left side of the plane began spewing flames as the jet was revving its engines for takeoff about 9 p.m. Thursday.

Airline officials said the engine had overheated. The incident remains under investigation.

"The engines were thrusting pretty good to go and then all of a sudden there was a little boom and lots of flames," said passenger Joy Baker. "It was not fun."

The pilot turned off the engine and powered down the plane while airport emergency crews sprayed the engine with a coolant.

The aircraft was then towed back to the airport and passengers disembarked, catching a flight to Orlando five hours later.
