I read about the song, and I think I remember it's about American Norht vs. South war (excuse me english-speaking people, but I'm Spanish and I don't know the exact war's name; I'd go for "secession war, but I'm not sure). That's why he sings about "Johnny Reb", "marching feet", "the captain mother", and so on.
