NIKON: Tell me about the new 3X telephoto

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Mike,

Thanks for taking the time...

I'm interested in any info about the Nikon 3x that is mentioned in the CP990 literature. (Cost, filter size, availability)

See below.

Quick specs:

3x teleconverter for 990/950/900/s (not sure yet on 800-will let you know)

ED Glass (Nikon's finest Extra Low Dispersion)

345mm coverage (135 format).

Cool huh.

Price-not yet set-a little over $200-250 I think.

I'm not clear about your question. The Nikon 990, as with most digicams, has a built-in 3X zoom. Filters aren't normally needed for digicams because they normally have both auto and manual white correction capability. It also has a 4X digital zoom. I'm not sure about the lens thread size, probably 37mm.

Rodger,

I'm talking about an add on lens. Nikon has a 2x right now, and mentioned a 3x someplace in the 990 specs.
