17th March 2000:

DAVID Platt is ready to ask his former England boss Bobby Robson for a favour.

For the Nottingham Forest manager wants to take United striker Paul Robinson on loan. And a move to the City Ground would be just the job for Robbo as he tries to get back to full match fitness before the end of the season.

Platt and Robson go back a long way with the current Forest boss being regarded as a lucky mascot for England when the United manager was in charge of the international side.

But whether Robson will allow Platt to take Robinson on loan remains to be seen with the FA Cup semi-final now just three weeks away.

United do not have that much cover for Alan Shearer and Duncan Ferguson, and if one of them was injured Robson could find himself a bit short.
