NIKON: 990 Electronic Shutter Release?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Hi, Mike,

First of all: thank you for taking the time to answer questions in this forum. One of the biggest strengths of the Nikon line, in my opinion, is the quality of support from both the manufacturer and its community of users.

Can you provide us with any information on the much-rumoured electronic cable release/remote that Nikon is planning for the 990? Details have, thus far, been sketchy: it's my understanding, though, that the device is going to connect to the 990's USB/serial port. Is this correct and, if so, what features is it going to support? (e.g., time-lapse? longer/manual exposure times? remote zoom/focus control?)

Is there yet a suggested list price and/or estimated release date?

Thanks, in advance, for any information that you might be able to provide.

Thank you for your kind words.

See my response below to the cable release. Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. Your info is pretty correct.
