The five element Pentar lens of Minox II and the COMPLAN lens for Minox III/IIIs/B, and early Minox C was designed by Arthur Seibert (1906-1980)

Pentar and COMPLAN are two of the sharpest subminature lenses.

COMPLAN was derived from COMpensation and filmPLAN-- meaning the COMPLAN len uses a curved film plane to compensate for abberation to achieve high degree of sharpness.

Arther Seibert was a former Ernst Leitz lens designer.

In 1951, Arthur Seibert formed his own optik company:

EMO OPTIK UN ELECTRONIK

Telefax 06441 725 04

Many of EMO's products are masterpieces of optical design, for example

The Emoscop was made in Germany by EMO-Optik, but now is made in Asia (Japan ?) and called Episcope. It is listed in Haverhills catalog from L.A. Sporting Goods for $59.95

It will be interesting to attach Arthur Seibert's Emoscop to a Minox camera such as Minox IIIs with a Minox binocular clamp. Then we shall have
  1. A telephoto Minox with Emoscop set a telescope mode
  2. A macro Minox with Emoskop set at loup mode
  3. A microscopic Minxo with Emoskop set at microscope mode
This Emoscop can be a versatile accesory for Minox camera.
