A TIP:DUAL USE OF YOUR FLASH MEMORY&READER

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Ok, you're like me, you have a Digital Camera, but don't use it all the time. You have a 8,64,or 128 meg compact Flash card, and a Sandisk USB reader. You need to get files from your computer to another computer. Options include zip drives, CDR/CDRW, internet loading and downloading, floppies. But hey, you already have the compact flash card and reader. Put it on there and take that to the other computer if none of the above options are feasible. The USB reader is very small and portable, as is the flash card. I spoke to the scandisk tech support and he said it was an excellent use of the reader and card when not doing digital pics. So....there you have it. You of course need a computer at both ends with USB support, (or I guess you'd have to buy the parallel version instead). Obviously this is not for achieving files (maybe someday when price and capacity are the right ratio), but for "sneaker-netting" to another computer. Its an inexpensive solution YOU ALREADY OWN and its easy to do. So there you are. The ease of use of this reader to do that makes this particularly appealing, but I am sure other readers can do the same type of double duty.
