How come I got into the BBS in Netscape from copying and pasting an IE URL and got redirected to this URL: http://www.greenspun.com/bboard/main-frame.tcl?topic=Unofficial%20Newcastle%20United%20Football%20Club%20BBS?

Did I miss the announcement on this or is it one of the hidden features of this BBS - perhaps there's an option to run it in comm***cata mode?

It's a great start. I'm still partial to the 3-frame approach, so you can see the topic list, the list of postings for each thread, and the body of the posts. Ok, old habits die hard and I'm just cranky right now because I've had to admit temporary defeat on my javascript problem due to being thrown in the middle of another battle of wills at work, which now means pressure to get a project off the ground far sooner than originally intended. :-/ Nurse!! A case of Broon over here please! Now!

The frames interface is part way there; I just need to get the threads into the left frame, and the answers/replies into the right frame. Oh and the timestamp stuff. What you saw was me fiddling about with the new setup.
