2/29 problems

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TB2K spinoff uncensored : One Thread

Taken from Year 2000 Discussions: from a CPA. We closed our fiscal year yesterday on our time and billing program. If you want vendor name, etc. contact me off list. Well, all kinds of things went hay-wire for transactions that were inputted on Feb 29. Data was miscalculaated, reports have wrong dates, new fiscal year picks up Feb 29 as March 1, etc. We are working with the vendor to resolve. They had "tested" Y2k and also Leap Year issues and we relied on the representations. And all this during Tax season, pass me the excedrin bottle. David R. Hibbeln, dhibbeln@tccpa.net

These problems are out there, but will be hidden unless they can't be resolved quickly, or someone sues.

At our company on Feb 29, we had cats sleeping with dogs.

There are ALWAYS problems out there that will be hidden unless they can't be quickly resolved or someone sues. Do you think that companies issue press releases with every computer problem they have on a daily basis? As long as the problem is resolved, it fades into the background noise of problems that occur constantly. The point has always been not to find if there have been ANY Y2K problems but if there have been problems that can't be fixed and affect society in some meaningful way.
