Minolta Scanner Drivers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I had to reformat my HD a few months ago and "lost" some updated drivers. I am specifically referring to the Minolta Scan Speed. At one time I downloaded v1.1. I went to the Minolta support site and they are only offering v.1.0 dated FEB99 (OLD!). Anybody know where the later version can be found? Minolta tech support is substandard and I won't hold my breath for an answer from them...

Thanks.

Check Europe. This site seems to have the 1.1 version:

They had the updated version 1.1 for the Multi 4-5 months before the US web site (supported 16 bit scans - US help desk told me it wasn't possible!)

Best.

Still the 1.0 version at the european site. I use the scanning software generated by ed hamrick at www.hamrick.com. Cost $40.00 US for vue print whereupon the scanning software is free. It's main benefit is that it allows multi-pass scanning which really cuts down on shadow noise and is definitely worth a try.

Hmmm, sorry. But I am somewhat confused. I CAREFULLY checked and saw version 1.1 for the Scan Speed. Also checked Multi just to confirm that 1.1 was still the current version there.

Downloaded VueScan, haven't tried yet. Actually need better software for the UMAX Astra 4000U, but that is another story .... Can't find any 3rd party software, including MagicScan, VueScan, SilverFast that support it yet.

Apologies. Best.

It's true, the Minolta Europe site offers only v1.0. I have seen plenty of hype about VueScan, and even downloaded a trial once. However, it was a pain to operate, so it was promptly deleted...
