NEW DELHI (March 14) XINHUA - A pilot of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was killed when an IAF trainer aircraft crashed on Tuesday evening near Toomukunta village not far from the city of Hyderabad in south India, the Press Trust of India (PTI) reported.

Local police told the PTI that the aircraft, which took off from Hakimpet Airforce Station near Hyderabad, developed a technical snag during its flight, forcing the two pilots on board to attempt to bail out.

While one pilot was killed due to the failure of his bailout attempt, the other landed safely, the police added.
