Canon S10 vs. S20

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I have narrow down my first DC purchase to the Canon S10 or the upcoming S20. The question is do I need the extra pixels on the S20? What other difference is there between these two models.

My needs are pretty simple. I dont need to print beyond 8 X 10 and will print mostly 5 x 7 and 4 x 6. I will be uploading pictures to the web so I dont really want big photos. BUT I do want quality prints and sharp pictures viewed by a monitor.

I thank you in advance for your advice.

Peter:
If 8 X 10 Prints are in your plan you want as many pixels as you can pile on the paper! 8 X 10's are on the ragged edge of digital cameras - and for truly sharp 8 X 10 prints - you'll need the highest resolution you can get (or afford).
For on screen presentation you can get away with a lot less.

There has been some discussion on other lists about the S20 (and other 3.3mp cameras) having too many bad pixels and also an extremely high level of artifacting and interference in the image quality.
