Olympus C2000 remote control amplification

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

The remote control for the Olympus C2000 camera has a limited range. I repeatedly find that the range is inadequate for some uses. Apart from replacing the battery, I'm looking for a way to increase the range. One possibility might be a programmable universal remote for a TV, which might put out a stronger infrared signal. Has anyone experimented with an amplification scheme?

Haven't tried that, but it might work. I've also seen (can't think where) IR remote "amplifiers" that pick up the IR signal & rebroadcast it with more power. There are also those gadgets made to let you use IR remotes between rooms. - One's a receiver, picks up the IR signal, sends it via wire or radio to the other, which is an IR transmitter...
