Can we catch the SMB's?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

I say definitely YES. We're now only 4 points behind the "intellectually challenged", with 10 games left. Their current form is non-existent, the barstools took 4 points off us + if that offside goal from Urko Philipps (against us) had been disallowed the diffce. would be only 1 point! We have an OUTSIDE chance of finishing as high as sixth?

Can we, we got to, took a bet just after Bobby`s appt when if you can remember we were looking dire and the Puddy Cats were going like bombs that , (a) We would finish above the Smoggies (b) That we would finish at least level with the SMB`s, but goal difference or alphebetically would get us above them, (c) Young Kenny for the National. AS they stated in the advert for Baxters,"Now that`s devotion for ye". BTW 28-1, fun bet. Buff

Pessimism - be warned

But,

Our next 2 games are away (Liverpool and Everton), theirs are at home (Everton and the Smoggies). I think Scumderland may do fairly well over then next 2 games, where I think we will be lucky to get a point.

Sorry to be so pessimistic, but I expect the gap to widen between us and the occupiers of the Stade de Merde - at least in the short term.

yes the mackems will realistically get 4 points from the 2 games but I expect a minimum of 1 and hopefully a good 3 points so if the latter is the case the gap shouldn't change much

They should pick up two or three points in the next two games but I expect us to beat Everton away and to do well against Pool - perhaps a point. Long term, they are on a steep downward trend and we are on the way up. Yes, definitely, we will finish above them.

Whey ey man! I certainly hope BR has set that as our PL target for the rest of the season rather than just avoiding the drop - the bragging rights are bloody important.

If you do catch the SMB's, drop me a line, I've still got the tablets the doctor gave me when I caught them.

Bloody painful if you do catch them, but absolutley brilliant when oyu get rid of them. :0)

To Barton...

Err why do you expect us to beat Everton away?

They haven't been beaten at home all season in the league! realistically I think a draw would be the best we'll do....remember that our away form isn't fantastic!
