Jet makes emergency landing

An Air Force trainer jet with fuel problems made an emergency landing at Amarillo International Airport Friday night.

The two-seat T-37 had a problem with a switch that allows the pilot to pump fuel from tanks on different sides of the plane to maintain stability, said Amarillo Fire Department Cpt. Tim Van Valkenburg. The pilot declared an emergency shortly after 6 p.m., and was able to land the plane without incident.
