Casio QV3000plus : PAL + NTSC included?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I notice in the Casio QV3000plus (which was excellent by the way), that the camera has a 'switch' to swap between PAL and NTSC, and that the camera includes a cable "which is suited to NTSC only". The author of the review thinks that the European version will have a PAL cable included.

Before anyone answers my questions, I already think I know alot about the differences between PAL and NTSC.

My questions are: a. What type of output is coming from the camera anyway (I guess it must be video), and what type of connectors do the US cables have, and what's the differnce between US and Europe connectors?

b. Will a USA-NTSC cabled QV3000plus work OK in Europe just by getting a PAL-cable?

Any assistance would be aprpeciated. I sure fancy getting one of these cameras at US prices instead rip-off European prices.

Regards, Richard.

Richard: If it is a baseband composite video signal then the cable matters not. Both NTSC and PAL signals use 75 Ohm cable. Now - if they've done something funny then it's anybodies guess. It's possible the cable connector is keyed to switch the output between PAL and NTSC. What kind of connector is on it?
