Hello,

I curious about the Glen Park area of San Francisco. Origin of name and so forth. I heard that it was once called "Little Switzerland." Any clues?

Thanks

Glen Park is a residential area surrounding a canyon studded open space called Glen Park. The term "Little Switzerland" was part of a marketing tool by the Crocker Land Company exploiting the rugged terrain of the area. Though much of it was settled before 1906, the post earthquake years brought real estate prosperity to the area. The area's current real estate boom is probably fuelded by its proximity to the Bay Area Rapid Transit and to the I-280 interchange.
