VCD quality on CD-i player

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Hi,

I`ve just managed to go through all the procedere in creating ripped video (DVD -> VCD). Format and burning are O.K., but the playing quality is a problem. I`ve encoded MPEG1 file with Panasonic encoder and quality on PC is good (i.e. no blocks). Playing this CDR on CD-i player (Philips 450 with video cartridge) however shows some nasty blocky effects (particularly in sections with rapid movements). Are these just the constraints of CDi players or is it possible to reduce the blockiness.

Greetings

Jarek

Jarek,

How do you setup panasonic settings? use half pixel for motion estimation algorythm and video filter at strong or strongest to reduce or get rid of the blockiness.
