KISHINEV, March 10 (Itar-Tass) - Moldovan Prime Minister Dumitru Braghis does not exclude another halt of the Russian gas supply next week as soon as the population, enterprises and organizations do not pay Gazprom.
Moldova is expected to repay 11 million dollars worth of gas debt for 2000 by March 16, under an accord signed in Moscow last week. "The cabinet has taken a number of emergency measures, but we are not sure we will fulfill them," Braghis remarked.
Kishinev has repeatedly thwarted agreements with Gazprom. The Russian concern stopped gas delivery to the republic in February 2000, thus putting the energy industry of Moldova on the brink of catastrophe.
