Elvira, Darth and Sinbad

greenspun.com : LUSENET : People Photography : One Thread

One light and a backdrop at a really good party. A second (background) light might have helped, but so what. The coolest thing about this image I had nothing to do with...it's the way the polaroid edge is dark right under Elvira's breast, it makes it look like she's coming right out of the frame. Totally serendipitous, totally 3D. I did pose them quite deliberately in about 20 seconds. Darth's upraised fist was at the last second and it really makes the picture for me... t

I've liked this everywhere you've posted it :-)

Very Caravaggio, both in the lighting and the feeling that these are real people, albeit playing a role. The 3D effect really makes it - I thought you'd posed them behind a steel frame.

This photograph has provoked me to clean off my monitor of fingerprints. Beaituful. The high quality of the printing is what I notice at first. Just excellent the way her hand, nose, and cleavage are as bright as they need to be without being blown out and Darth's fist is as dark as it needs to be without loss of detail. This one is snappy and brilliant looking. I'm with the above poster in that it looks like they're sticking out of a steel frame. Wish this image was slightly bigger so more detail can be seen. Love these kinds of parties.

These Polaroid negs can be difficult. The only manipulation was a slight burn on her hand, nearest the light. There was a full length reflector off to the right as you can see in Sinbad's lame' shirt. I can't really increase the size because my scanner is an antigue. This was from a contact print and is slightly enlarged here. An 8x10 is really beautiful, I love this film/camera combo it makes me the life of a party (ha)... t
