Well first off what you want to do is convert the .asf files to .avi files using virtualdub v1.3c. One you find a copy and install it open virtual dub and do the following; under compression select a codec to use, preferably microsoft's mpeg 4 codec version 1 and set the quality to 100% and leave the bit rate at 3000. next for audio select direct copy from stream. Then go over to the file menu and select save as, type in a file name and you're done! Simply repeat the process to convert the other file and then once both files are converted if you wish to combine them go to the file menu open the first file and then select append video segment from the file menu, select the second file and it will be added at the end of the first file. Then under video select direct stream copy and do the same for audio, select save as from the file menu, create a file name and then save. Now if you're still with me, the next step is to take the avi file and convert it using TMPG, that is unless of course your version of nero converts .avi files. At anyrate if you have to use TMPG it's very easy simply select the video source by clicking on the video source button, select the destination folder and click start. For added quality and to ensure that there are no audio and video synch problem simply extract the audio to a wave file first by going to the file menu, selecting the output to file command and selecting WAV file, again enter a file name and after the file has been extracted go down just below video source and select audio source then select the file that you've just finished extracting.
