Clunking Nikon Coolpix 800

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I went to a retailer about ready to buy the coolpix 800 but noticed that the demo seemed to have a problem. After moving the zoom, the camera began to emit a mechanical clicking noise for a full minute after the zoom button was moved- sort of a skipping sound. You could feel it as well as hear it. Is this normal for this camera? Also, being an Olympus owner (spoiled?), I wonder about Nikon's reliability in digital cameras.

Well honestly it was probably dropped or something. People are hard on things THEY dont own so do judge the floor model. Nikon is at least as good as any other camera builder out there.
