No Bids for the unwanted 13!!!

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

From Football 365 and the Ronnie:

Newcastle have not received a single solid bid for any of their 13 transfer-listed players, manager Bobby Robson has admitted today. United put an entire team on the transfer list - including the likes of Silvio Maric, Des Hamilton and Stephen Glass - and not one club has taken the bait and made a firm offer for the players. Most of the players are now stuck playing reserve-team football and waiting for somebody to take an interest.

Several players have been the subject of inquiries but they have not followed this up with offers of money. The likes of Stephen Glass and Carl Serrant have been the subject of interest from Division One clubs, but there has been no more contact.

The Official Site indicates a bid from Hearts for Coppy.

"Hot on the heels of reported interest from Fenerbache in Duncan Ferguson, comes news of interest in 19 year old James Coppinger from a little closer to home.

Coppinger opened the scoring in last nights reserve game and is wanted by both Scottish Premier League side Heart - Of - Midlothian and third division Hartlepool United.

Hartlepool are hopeful of pushing a deal through this afternoon in order to have him available for this evening's game with Brighton at Victoria Park, however whereas that deal would be a loan, initially for a month, the deal which could take him to Tynecastle would be permanent with figures of #600 000 mentioned in Scottish quarters. It is the interest from Hearts which is holding up any potential deal involving Hartlepool for the former Darlington player.

An ex - England Under - 16 International, Teessider James scored four times in as many Youth team games against Newcastle... then found himself on the way to Tyneside on a three year contract. Scored eight times in 26 Junior games last season, and seven in eight appearances when he stepped up into the Reserve side. "

There is at least 1 blessing in this - that YBR may now be tempted to use Glass.

.... BR MAY NOW USE GLASS.. To: chevy

Can't see it chevy. BR clearly doesn't rate Glass, and having spent 75% of his transfer budget on Gavilan he is almost certainly ahead of Glass for a PL call up.

The local press has Gavilan probably starting this weekend against Watford. I think he's more likely be on the bench, but to be involved at some stage.

Well I shall certainly miss Coppy at the reserves; unless Chopra or Ameobi is ready to step up already, I think it's a big mistake.

Still, totally in agreement over YBR offering Stu Green an improved contract, he's a little diamond.
