how can i make a vcd so that it will rewind or fast forward in a dvd player

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

I am using Adaptec 4.0 to make the vcd's and they play fine in my Phillips dvd player. The problem I have is that they will not rewind or fast forward. How can I make the vcd so that i can still use a single video clip, but make so that i can fast forward or rewind in my dvd player.

It is a firmware problem with the Phillips player - get a Pioneer 525 or an APEX.

You will probably also experience lockups with the Phillips if it is an 825, it has no error correction.

I got FF and RW to work by an arcane setting in the Xing mpeg encoder: "1 sequence header per GOP". The Ligos encoder has this option as well, but not Panasonic. Works in my Philips.

After setting to 1 sequence header per GOP i can now fast forward and rewind in my Phillips 825. Thanx for the suggestion. FYI in the Xing encoder, open the stream profile properties, click advanced, set 'Seq nterval' to '1 per GOP'. Thanx again!
