This forum has some interesting features

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Unofficial Newcastle United Football Club BBS : One Thread

You can switch off the E-mail notification.

It can be moderated for persistent abusers (so Rik can be kept away)

You can request a summary via E-mail (hmmm - is my disk big enough??)

Answers

Yeah, but it is also a bit tedious to navigate. Any hints???

Where's the summary via email thingy? That's an interesting idea.

Agree, this isn't as easy as communicata, but still beats the pants off any of the other free bbs or email lists. Fast, no nonsense, and organized list of threads.

There are quirky aspects to it, in particular no identification on the thread list of how many replies, new replies etc. However, between this and Riks site we seem to have two temporary 'residences' with which to buy some time to develop a more permanent solution. I'm not a 'techy' but from experience yesterday, when there was a little 'traffic', Riks site appeared to quickly become 'unavailable'. I also sensed this site was slowing down alarmingly when Ciara and I were posting, perhaps simultaneously. I don't know how easy it is for the techies to assess these things, but this is presumably the key determinant for us now. Given the uncertain timing for Communicata to pull the plug, it seems to me we need to reach braod agreement quickly as to where everyone should congregate when 'Armageddon' ultimately strikes. Screacher, I think you have sufficient respect within the group to be able to do this - albeit an awsome responsibility (only joking!).

Agree with Screach that navigation is a pain in the ass :(

But it seems fast enough...

Thanx Duncan for the new site.

Just wondering if this site jumps the heading with the latest post up to the top of the thread list or something?
