Which software can rotate JPEG without decoding ?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I'm looking for an image editing software which could do the basic editing functions ( or at least rotating ) without decoding the file. I'd prefer a freeware or shareware program. Also interested any other way to minimize the quality loss due to re-encoding JPEGs after editing. Thanks ! Zed

There is a very nice little program called Thumber that uses a 3rd party rotational tool that does what you want. Click on:
Thumber
To download it.

PIE will rotate without decoding the file. It just massages the bits.

Check my homepage for the URL.... http://pages.prodigy.net/daveclark

PIE is a low cost shareware image viewer that is very fast. It also displays the data from the digital camera.

ifranview is a great free program to display and do basic editing on photos. Will do thumbnails or full display of current pics, and can display all std jpeg camera info. Will rotate, etc.

Bill Gates could learn something from the author, since it's about a half-meg in size, is extremely fast, reads any format and has lot's of functionality.

Search for ifranview from any browser and you should find the download
