Kiev, 4th March: The No 6 generating set at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant was stopped for planned repairs today at 0230 [0030 gmt], the information centre of the State Nuclear Control Administration of Ukraine.

The reactor has worked lately in the mode of decreasing its output and burning off its nuclear fuel. Fresh nuclear fuel is to be loaded into the reactor during the repairs. The repairs are to be completed on 8th March.

Fresh nuclear fuel is also needed for the No 1 reactor of the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant where planned repairs are under way. The reactor is to be started on 4th March. UNIAN learnt at the information centre of the State Nuclear Control Administration that there is not enough fuel at the Zaporizhzhya nuclear power plant for the stopped reactors.

Repairs at the No 2 generating set of the South-Ukrainian nuclear power plant are behind schedule by over two and a half months over the lack of fresh nuclear fuel. The generating set is to be started by 25th March.

The No 1 generating set of the Rivne nuclear power plant is also to be stopped for repairs and fuel reloading. Starting from 1st March the reactor is burning off its nuclear fuel and its output is gradually decreasing.
