What annoys you?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Touch the Flame : One Thread

So. I'm irritated by being awakened by church bells at six a.m. every morning. I'm irritated by the nice hotmail people who wouldn't let me access anything for a day and a half. I have a journal to vent in. (Okay, some of you do, too, but hell, post it here, anyhow. Make me feel nice.)

What annoys the hell out of you? Go ahead, vent.

Netscape annoys me. Yes, yes, I know, Bill Gates is a more enjoyable target for venting, but IE hasn't done anything to annoy me lately but Netscape is being a real pain in the butt. My index page seems to work fine with IE and WebTV (and from Macs also I think but I get very few Mac hits) but for some reason for the past couple weeks sometimes with Netscape just my title and background come up but not the rest of the page. I played with it a little yesterday, taking out a counter I had added recently to the top of the page but it didn't seem to matter if it was there or not. I'm puzzled and annoyed and I'm going to have to try to find time to rebuild that page and see if I can fix it. So I'm pissed off at Netscape. And it's seven-thirty in the morning and my sinuses are bothering me.

Jim (and if anyone does actually go there, if you only get a title and a background would you let me know, including what browser you're using... thanks)

My roommates. People who eat all the food and don't bother to replace it or pay for it in the first place. People who make hot chocolate, stir it with a spoon, lick the spoon, and put it away, because "it's still clean." People who bitch, moan, and complain about the trash being full but would have no clue how to begin taking it out because in 6 months, they've never done it, not once. Homework. The way my math prof clears his throat eighty bazillion times each class. When my roommates like to me and about me and don't see a problem with it. When my roommate sings at the top of her lungs when I'm sleeping. When people leave alarms on all day. When my ceiling collapses. When my roommate neglects to shower...

Meghan, you should know not to get me started in on this topic.

roommates annoy me. no matter how nice and great they are, they are going to get on your nerves. and that sucks. my parents annoy me with their christian attitudes about EVERYTHING. it annoys me when people think that just because a person is nice, shy, and well-mannered, that they cant be a little bit wild, crazy and bad. it annoys me that people get put into those stereotypes to begin with. people are NOT able to be stereotyped so easily. thats what annoys me.

I'm not so annoyed at Netscape as I was thanks to your perspicacious advice regarding my html source code. (Well, I'm still a little annoyed at them because my messy code did work with IE and WebTV, but still it was my coding glitch...)

But I have replaced that annoyance with a new one: HBO moved The Sopranos last night.... It has been a 9:00 pm Sunday show this season and last night I turned the tv on at nine only to discover they had moved it back to 8:00 p.m. and made me miss it! I am really annoyed at them over this. It's not as if I watch a lot of tv. What is even more annoying, is that I had turned the tv on at 8:00 to watch The Simpsons and Fox had some stupid awards program on instead so I turned it off again, so not only did I also not get to watch The Simpsons, if I had known about HBO's schedule change, I could easily have watched The Sopranos at eight. Those are the only two television programs that I watch every week (I might happen to watch other stuff, but those are the only two that I always plan on watching).

Now I'm going to have to try to remember to turn on the tv so I can watch The Sopranos on their Wednesday night repeat broadcast. Very annoying. (Thanks for providing the forum for venting.)
