I saw a rerun of the movie (I think) "Liberty" the other day, with Alan Alda playing an author whose book was being turned into a movie -- very badly. BUT, in the contract it was required that the director "consult" with the author.

So the director said "OK, you don't like what I'm doing. I respect your opinion. We've now consulted." And walked off!

At least you received a warning as Ed promised. So that doesn't count. But too bad Ed's "respect" doesn't extend far enough to answer any questions or provide any explanations. I used to laugh at those who said of "Klinton" that you can tell he's lying if his lips are moving. But if this were said instead about Yourdon, I'd nod in full agreement of a shared prejudice.

Consider yourself lucky I guess. Some of us never took that "leap" to be banned, as we knew it would be spontanious. Hell, I stated on a chat that I would not register at the new forum based upon the "rules and regulations" (ie bans) that were being placed upon it's inception.

Oh well.... life goes on, and my leisure computer time grows less and less each day.

IMO, the forum was dying prior to the spam attacks. Others noticed, as well, and made the move to the new location in an attempt to rejuvenate it. Posts in the past two days seem to support this thesis: most of the posts have been of a "forum familiarization" nature or of an argument about banning. Posters will end-up where the discussions prove to be the most interesting. I'm hoping this board will draw more enlightened discussion. Time will tell....

You might think it is not a big deal to be censored. Wait until it happens to you some time. A rather odd feeling, to have your words manipulated. It causes something like "road rage", only in cyber space.

In my case, Diane and other "moderators" tried to frame me by adding to my posts, and accusing me of making posts that weren't mine...all to get me BANNED. they wanted to whip up there "buddies" against me and anyone else who posted AGAINST there doom clap-trap nonsense.

The last straw was when the doomidiots found out they could impersonate me (even my IP number). that was all the "proof" the jackboots needed to ban me...and I never even made half the posts they say I did.

Its pretty difficult to defend yourself when you are under censure. no fun at all. like being in a foreign jail where your rights are s#*t on. you are at the whim of the prison officials. all my posts were deleted, no matter what they said. I suppose that diane and the rest of her cohorts needed to keep me down so that people wouldn't find out what they had done.

Thankfully the days of Diane "just shag me" Squire are over.

Whether you are truly banned, or just shunned, don't take it hard, Z1X4Y7. I took one look at the EZBoard forum and decided it was wholly inferior to the Greenspun version.

I won't tolerate banner heads when there is any earthly way to avoid them. I dislike cute little emoticons. I find heavily moderated forums lacking in vitamins. It was slow, overly commercial and ugly.

(Thank you once more Phil Greenspun, for making these forums available. They are well laid out, readable, friendly and very useable. Your design sense is superior. And you can't beat the price!)

As long as I'm on the subject of devoting time to someone who's insane, I have to admit right now that I'm guilty of the same thing. I'm afraid I let cpr have far too much influence in my life, but I did it because he helped me understand the cult-like mentality that occurs when you censor people -- for whatever reason. Diane, Im wondering if youve learned that yet? Somehow, I really don't expect an answer, but I do hope you give it some thought. I hope you think about it one of those nights when you're laying in bed reflecting on the events of the past. You know, we all do that, and if nothing else, Y2k could be the impetus that allows us to contemplate more important lessons if we're honest with ourselves. Damn, girl, Im one of the most intellectually honest and reflective people I know, and I suspect you are too. My take on all this is that we both were unduly influenced, and you and I got caught up in a cyber-battle of wills. What did that accomplish? Not much, and we both ended up with sore hands.
