MAUSB-1 Windows 2000 Drivers

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I bought the MAUSB-1 a while ago, and I am still waiting for Olympus to put out Windows 2000 drivers. From what I know of the Win2k driver base, it shouldn't be too hard to force the Win98 driver to work, but I have had little success. Has anybody been able to get the MAUSB-1 to work under Win2k?

Windows 2000 and Win98 are completely different beasts. Win2000 is an update of NT4, and Win98 drivers will not work with it. Try the NT drivers (if available).

I think Microsoft have been very remiss in not making it clear that Win2000 is not simply an upgrade to Win98.

The win 2000 driver is available at Olympus web site below http://www.driverguide.com/boards/usb2/794.html

The driver that was identifed by Dave, unfortunately, does not work either as its the same as the old 98 version. I had spent a significant amount of time with the olympus tech support rep (Nov/01) with out fixing the Blue screen of death. By the way he gave up real fast which was a big disappointment(I'll have to remember that as I start my quest for a newer digital camera). As soon as the driver is disabled or unit physically unpluged, I can at least boot up and start using win2000. By the way my pc really goes hardover if i try to do a hot swap of the smart reader or activate the driver. I would also like to hear if anyone out there has been able to get this guy to work.

I'm running XP and had to figure out how to get that MUASB-1 working for the office after the switch. I found that the win 2000 drivers from http://www.olympus.co.jp/CS/digital/di/row/row_download.html for the MAUSB-2 work fine. It's a different set of hardware, but it works so I'm not complaining.

Following Justin's advise, I went to the site and downloaded the driver for MAUSB2 and installed it on my XP. The driver works fine so far. Thanks, Justin.

Using Justins advice, I downloaded the MAUSB-2 driver. During the installion, you will need to click on other drivers. Select the MAUSB-2 driver (from file location). I'm running W2K and it (so far) works fine.

Do not use "MAUSB1" driver that includes the drivers for both O.S. (Win2000 Professional, Win98)you download it from the Olympus site to install the driver for Win2000. It won't work that way. Instead of,Win2000 works great with MAUSB_1_WinXP driver.
