question about audio bit rate with highrate vcds

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

here is something i was rather curious about. when i make a highrate vcd, during encoding (panasonic) i have to raise the vcd buffer rate to 150 for a 2500bitrate vcd (otherwise the audio will skip on my dvd players). But when i capture it at 3000 i have the audio data set to 224(someone told me that a "movie quality should be 256). if i raised the audio data to 256 during capture, would i still have to end up raising the vbr to 150 in the panasonic or would the 256 fix the problem? Or are these two completely unrelated? thanks

Answers

Doug,

The skipping is due to the packing size of your clip during encoding. If i am not mistaken the pack size should be 2434. Sometime the pack size drop below this number let say 2403 or less, then you'll have the skipping problem.
