IRQ's O.K., now what?

Addendum to previous question: Did check the IRQ's for the COM ports & they each do have separate IRQ. So, as Gerald Payne says, back to the drawing board. I remain stumped!!!!!

Thanks for the quotation... ;-)

After you checked the IRQ's did you try swapping your mouse to the port that you had been using for the camera as it says under the "swapping cables" section of the Faq? That really is an important thing to try as it'll tend to prove or disprove whether your serial port is working. If it's set up correctly, and working, Windows should pick up the mouse on it. If not, you have a software conflict or a hardware problem(your serial port is possibly caput!)

You really need to test that port with another device and follow the other steps in the faq in case something has changed since you had it all working.

If you'd like email me with EXACTLY what you've checked, and I'll try to help you through the rest of it.

As another person said, an external reader is a very good way to solve the problem. It's considerably faster, I use one myself. I wrote the faq because I felt that most people buy a camera and want to try it out before buying more equipment. When you first get your new toy and can't get it to work it really is a letdown, so from that came the faq.

Write me if I can help.

Gerald

Tell me, what if any hardware or software did you install on your PC just before having the problem? Did you by any chance add any sort of serial port connected device like a PDA or palm something-or-other?
