has the same resolution one picture than two?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

I want to take a panoramic picture, here the important issue is the resolution. Has a particular size picture, let's say, 8" X 20" , the same resolution than the same picture but snapping it into two parts?. In other words, I have twopossibilities :

1. ONE panoramic picture using the maximum resolution (3.4 Mpixels) snapping the whole panorama and afterwards using a software to print it (8" X 20").

or

2. The same picture with TWO shots and afterwards I joint both pictures to print the same size (8" X 20"). (Now I have 2 pictures each with 3.4 Mpixels.)

How is the print quality in both pictures? How about the file size?

thanks

Print quality and file size will both be higher with the "stitched" approach, if you have good stitching software. Check out www.enroute.com for their "QuickStitch" program. Phenomenal piece of software!

You can also check out out www.pixaround.com for their "PixMaker" software, for stitching high resolution images. Software is availabe free!
