Great White Heron

Velvia @100 ISO, 160 f/16. Minolta Maxxum 9 camera, Maxxum 600/4 lens, Gitzo 1548 tripod, Arca-Swiss B1 ballhead.

We found this Great White Heron (variant of Great Blue Heron) on the beach at Blind Pass, Sanibel, Florida. I actually had to back up to get this shot. Taken on a photo tour with Arthur Morris, 2/19/00 at 9:53 AM.

Very nice, Ross. I really like "the blue on blue", the blue around the eye and the blue background. It is also nice to know that velvia pushes so well.

If only he'd have combed that cowlick down :-) Seriously, a great image - I also like the blue/white/blue. Great technique, too - this razor sharp with a 600 means you did everything right.
