Explosion of compressed air tank near Montreal

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Grassroots Information Coordination Center (GICC) : One Thread

Hello.

This is my first post to this board, but some of you may recognize me from another one. :) I have been lurking here since rollover.

I cannot recall whether or not you have been tracking explosions, and a quick perusal through the present threads didn't discover any. So, if you deem this post to be inappropriate, please let me know. I am posting it to the "non-y2k incidents" folder because, of course, the article makes absolutely no reference to y2k. However, the explosion itself is highly unusual.

With your permission, I will post here just occasionally should I see something possibly relevant.

For those of you who may have followed Rick Cowles' EUY2K board, it too is closing today. That's the good news.

Three killed in Explosion

Three workers at an auto testing plant near Montreal were killed today, when a tank filled with compressed air suddenly exploded, for no apparent reason. Two of the men were decapitated; the third died later. Twenty co-workers were treated in hospital for shock. The tragedy happened in Blainville, just north of Montreal."

Hi Rachael -

Thanks for the post. We are particularly fond of our lurkers here. :- )

Although this forum is still dedicated to Y2K disruptions/glitches, we are expaneding that to include infrastructure events. This has been a natural morph as many of the events posted here have causes of a "dubiuous" nature which *may* include Y2K issues.

The GICC analysts will be meeting Friday, March 3, to further define the guidlelines of the forum, and we'll be sure to post the outcome. As always, reader's/poster's input are welcome.

Regards - Jen Bunker

Thanks, Jen. A guideline for "category" that these dubious ones should be placed in would be helpful--should they all land in "not y2k-related" or in the category closest to their topic? It makes a difference when you go looking for patterns later....
