Do you think a "Digital Imaging" forum is a worthwhile forum?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : People Photography : One Thread

I've been toying with creating a forum for anything from digital image critiques to how to use equipment and software like Photoshop, Dreamweaver, etc...

Do you think there is a market for such a site?

If you build it, they (may or may not) come :)

Hi Shawn,

My answer may be somewhat suspect, as I am planning to set up a digital "darkroom also.... I probably have a "hopefully so" bias. But, based on the number of related postings on Photo.net and many other sites, I think there will be a lot of interest. Just give them time to find you!

ABSOLUTELY!!!!

I say: try it out! Maybe we can then get some of those posts that this Shawn Gibson character currently places here off to a more appropriate forum ;-)

I always forget the BR tag... Sorry.

Allan: what's a good scanner for photographing people? You're right, of course...sorry everyone :-)

I just realized that I'm probably taking advantage with these stupid digital posts. Really sorry everyone. If I'm a jerk, tell me, I'm really not that sensitive...ouchie ouch boo hoo...

I think a digital imaging forum would be a great idea. I have gone mostly digital myself, except for the film, and would love to compare methods with others.

Shawn, I think a digital forum is an excellent idea. I also see that you are trying to start a carreer in fashion photography, learning web publishing, learning digital darkroom techniques, as well as running this formum and participating in others... My concern is that you might be over-extending yourself. Trying to get a new carreer going is incredible amounts of work all on it's own! If you want to start a new forum I hope you find someone who will help you with the work. I know I wouldn't have the time and energy to take on something like that right now, but then I'm still building thas dang house!

I would definitely need help with it; I could barely figure out the categories myself, and you are right, I'm stretching myself thin as it is; but I think this all goes towards 'being serious'. If anyone is interested in co-moderating a digital forum with me, email me personally at my prophoto address. But be warned I'm not gonna even start for at least a couple of weeks, too much on the go, new ft job, new format of camera, new lighting, this site, my homepage on the go with brand new software, yikes and a part time job to boot. No wonder I only shoot a few times a month. I always have an overflow of models. I should take advantage of that...

ok im done complaining shawn

-- shawn gibson (SeeInsideForever@yahoo.com), March 03, 2000.

dang, was that a complaint?

well I can see that the limited shooting might be a complaint.....

-- grant groberg (grant@emeraldp.com), March 04, 2000.

Only a complaint of my body, he be quite tired lately...

OK. I'm gonna start the Digital Imaging site. Could someone recommend some categories to begin with. I.e., "Photoshop General", "Images for the Web", "Images for Print", "Calibration", etc.

...and I really will need a moderator...

Shawn, aren't you reinventing the wheel? I think this is already a digital imaging forum:

well I don't know why that didn't work, but I'm talking about the image resource forum on Lusenet, it's pretty broad based and well attended. I've received good advice with digital capture problems there. (And I like you're efforts here... enlightened self interest, ya know?)... t
