What's your favorite month?

August, baby. Most obvious reason first: my birthday! Also, Australia's summers are, well, less than stellar. Our winters are also freezing. August is that nice window of time where Winter is turning into Spring (yes, our seasons are opposite to yours), so wether you want a jacket on, or jacket off, you'll still be comfortable either way. The sun shines brightly, but the breezes are cool. August is the most colourful month, when all the flowers start to bloom.

August may not have that many notable holidays, but there is Daffodil Day. Daffodil Day is when all the stores sell daffodils, and the money that buys them is donated to cancer research. Everywhere you go, people are holding daffodils. It's a very pretty, while somewhat sad day.

August also brings Jeans for Genes day, where you wear jeans to work or school rather than normal uniform. Now who wouldn't love a day like this?

The runners up are December and January, because I love Christmas and Australia Day. Well, maybe not Australia Day itself, but the Australia Day festivals are always fun.

I haven't lived in CA long enough to have a favorite month for out here (though I have to say that so far I'm pretty partial to late-summer). My favorite month in Wisconsin, though, has always been October. There are about 2 weeks around mid-October in southern Wisconsin where the colors of absolutely everything are amazing. The leaves are bright orange and bright yellow and are falling around everywhere in the crisp breeze, and the sky is the brightest, clearest blue that you'll ever see anywhere. One of my very favorite memories of my entire four years in college is of standing outside on the quad during my freshman October, when my whole life at the time was crashing down all around me into little pieces, and I just looked up at that bright blue sky through the bright orange trees, and the wind was blowing through my hair and making leaves dance all around me, and I knew that everything was going to work out.

So, yeah, I love Wisconsin Octobers.

October is most definately my favourite month. Canadian Thanksgiving is in October, and that's my favourite holiday. I like how all the family can gather and give thanks, and hallmark has not yet turned it into some big commercial moment. I love it. I like the colour of the sky, and the leaves.. and the way the wind is still warm. It just seems like some magical time for some reason.
