OT:Popular "SoBe" bottled beverages promoting Apocalyptic messages

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

I just happened to look at the inside of a bottle cap and the message read: APOCALIZARD NOW! Now just how do I explain the meaning of this to my nine year old child? I want him to have peaceful thoughts and a real childhood...I realize a parent really has to scrutinize every bit of marketing out there but these dark promptings gave me goosebumps. Parents beware.

Huh??? Apocolizard??? Apocolypse??? How do these relate??? I'm totally baffled.

I thought that they were making fun of folks who might be seeing an apocalypse ahead.

Anyone seriously concerned about this issue should watch Saturday morning cartoons or check out the selections available for Nintendo. The days of Bugs Bunny (who was pretty violent himself-and a purveyor of subliminal messages) are long gone.

If you're in a literary frame of mind,I recommend the story "I Remember Babylon" by Arthur C. Clarke

I see the reference as being much more a twist on the movie, "Apocalypse Now," (which was about the Vietnam war, and was actually based on Conrad's "Heart of Darkness" novel located in Africa around the turn of the century) then any great philosophical statement. All the Sobe caps have something about Lizzards, and you run out of new things after awhile.

Marian I suggest you pick up a new age book by Paul Coulbeck "The Granite Starship this could very well be a hidden message directed to all of us.

Funny you should mention that. I've been a big fan of SoBe drinks. Originally thought the stuff written under the caps was pretty humorous. Then I started getting an odd feeling about it. And then I read David Icke's book "The Biggest Secret". I recommend you do the same. If you can't find it otherwise try www.davidicke.com.
