Republicans getting smart: Booting the religeous right out.

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Keep it up and the Republicans may regain their national respect and start winning some elections.

McCain may lose, but Jerry Falwell may find himself very lonely in the days to come. Ralph Reed is probably considering his future as we speak.

Christians, go back to bible study. You need it to show you the diffenence between right and wrong.

Factoid:

25% of Americans call themselves "Christian Conservatives."

That's more than all the Mexican-Americans in the country, that's more than all the Homosexuals in the country, that's more than all the Negros in the country, that's more than all the straight/white/males in the country.

gee Dirty, how come you hate us so much? what, tolerance for everyone except christians? seems like that is exactly what the politically correct want.

Warning! Flame bait. Troll Alert.

-- (justlooking@my.screen), February 29, 2000.

Cuddluppy,

Having grown up with you and having your hipocracy shoved down my throat at a tender age.

I don't hate you, I just wish you would understand what you preach. And practice it.

Regards,

DDM

I don't think it's really a "religious" issue. Down here, a lot of the block grant money went to "christian" entities and then "reform" was imposed via the recipients on the hapless people who happened to be using government service-and that not necessarily by choice but by economic conditions which are not real good here no matter what they say.

Anyone can call themselves a Christian, but mighty few of those willing to grab the title really engage in Christ-like behavior or attitudes. This sort of got around, and now the gov'nor done got himself a real problem with the poor-who are poor but not disenfranchisd. Unfortunately, that problem kind of spread on over to the Christian (the real ones) community as well in the eyes of the "little ones" of whom the real Jesus was so fond.

So maybe what we have here is a case of the Devil quotin' Scripture and Mammon taking a big chunk of what the taxpayers thought was servin' God. Like to see how they plan on gettin' all that money back from these people, that'll be a real hoot. Texas is never boring.

I don't know about the others -- but Christian conservatives are moral fascists. Furthermore, they are generally stupid -- having assisted the liberals in increasing the government power they bleat about.

Now, you Christian conservatives are so stupid you probably don't know what I mean. OK -- Government (those in government) loves and seeks power. It doesn't care from whom they get the grant. You Christian wackos want anti-sex laws, anti-abortion laws, anti-drug laws, teh government says "You got it!" The looney lefties want anti-gun laws, anti-"discrimination" and pro-"diversity" laws, public school funding and control laws, the government says "You got it." Get It? you religous conservative idiots?

The loonie left (Blair and Co) want religious tolerance for all religions except Christians, as the dominant religion in the UK and US is christianity it is in effect an attck on religion in general from a marxist atheist standpoint. The few moslems etc won't make much difference to their agenda which is the extermination of religious belief. Its also happening that anyone who doesn't believe in marxist atheism is being labelled as cultist or right-wing and pilloried. They also believe that only whites are capable of racial intolerance which is plainly not the case as well as being illogical. "Cults" are being directly persecuted by the French, British and US governments through violence, litigation or legislation. The "left" wing are just as capable of fascism as the "right" wing, not only capable but practising it. In this country Blair's vast majority has given him carte blanche to install a totalitarian government, continuation of the Democrat demagogy is leading the US down the same path.

"Religious Right" is a media epithet. I don't know how their can be a designated "Religious Right", which suggests an idealogical position on a spectrum of possible positions, without being aware of its counterpart. Yet I never hear the media suggest the counterpart.

In other words, how could a "Religous Right" exist without the corresponding "Anti-Religous Left." Ohhh! Shhh! We must not look behind that curtain!

Little Wifey, What are you babbling about?

-- Just Curious (jnmpow@flash.net), March 01, 2000.

And so it was written: "There shall be a falling away of those who believe."

-- NoJo (RSKeiper@aol.com), March 01, 2000.

To accent the points above I agree the Christian Right was wrong to try and legislate morality but it is also just as wrong to try and legislate immorality.

The absolute thinking on both sides is what starts wars.

Dirty Dingus and "A",

"...while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us." (Romans 5:8)

Say what you want...Jesus Christ still chose to die for you...a fact forever set in stone.

-- TM (mercier7@pdnt.com), March 01, 2000.

...oh, by the way Lucy. Last time I checked, the 10 commandments still looked pretty much absolute to me.

-- TM (mercier7@pdnt.com), March 01, 2000.

The ten commandments are absolute to me. It is very evident that they are not absolute to others though. Do you honestly think I could make "A" see them absolute?

-- Lucy (lifeisgoodhere@webtv.net), March 01, 2000.

Just make me a little list someone. Read the four gospels and make a contrasting list of those people Jesus healed and saved and those He condemned. You might surprise yourself.

I am sure the thief on the cross was a model, moral citizen of the state. And, funny thing I don't recall a single religious leader of Jesus' day that He approved of. And I guess He has colored my worldview because I don't know of a single religious huckster of my day that I approve of. Hmmmm....

Dirty Dingus, it is easy to understand your experience(mine also) and sentiments. I still ended up being a Christian. Just haven't met any in my lifetime who believe the entire Bible. They will all say they do. But, when you bring up something that kicks their personal idols...oh well, you know how it goes.

-- canthappen (n@ysayer.com), March 01, 2000.

Dingus,

Is that the real Republican Party or just "John McCain's Republican Party" that the Christian conservatives are being "expelled" from? It must be McCain's so he can make room for all those Democrats who've come over to vote in the GOP primaries before they go back to the Democrats.

It's all in your demented dreams.
