have looked at huelett packard,, canon power shot A50, & toshiba also need macro, comfort, red eye reduct., some zoom, high pixel - resolution even tho we mostly will use med. would like flash to be off, on & auto. 8 mg memory card, usb connection,

Take a look at the Agfa 1280 and 1680. Except that it lacks an optical finder which is useful when the sun shines on the LCD finder, they have all the features you want. I boughtthe 1280 for a little over $300 over eBay and find I carry my Nikons less and less. To make big prints I use Genuine Fractuals.
