Is there an external device like M-filter availible?

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Video CD : One Thread

Seems M-filter only works for MPEG/MPEG2 capture boards. My question is, is there such a device that has all the filtering features like M-filter that can be used with AVI capture devices or any other video equipment (say if I am dubbing tape to tape)?

Thanx.

Yes the M-filter has an input and output source. You can use it for other purposes as you described above beside a capture board.

Wait, are you saying that an M-Filter can be used if I were dubbing from one VCR to another? Or perhaps from a DVD to a VCR or Laserdisc to VCR?

That is why I wanted to know if there is an external video unit with the same features as M-Filter

SuperDre,

If i understand you correctly, you want a video filtering device to give you a clean signal right? The M-filter is that device. What i did was input a signal from my S-VHS VCR to the M-filter ran the S- video signal output to my RT-6 capture board to capture the clip. Mean while i ran the other composite output to my Dazzle USB and capture the clip to my notebook. One signal two capture clips from composite and S-video to compare. Note this device resides inside your desktop computer on an ISA bus and it's not an external device.

You are missing the point of my original question, I AM looking for an external device. Because I want to use it not only for going from one Video source to VCD, but from one VCR to another VCR.

That Is why I asked, is it possible to for example have the playback VCR connect to the input of an M-Filter, then have the output of the M-Filter go to the record VCR.

Bottom line is I want a unit that I could use (that has features like M-filter) for dubbing from one video source (VCR to VCR, laserdisc to VCR, DVD to VCR, etc), but could also be used for going from video source to VCD.
