Anyone see The OTHERS tonight on NBC - too weird. Art imitating life? Bet you reality is as strange as fiction. That show got to me!

No, I watched Braveheart. And now watching it again. If I can stay awake will probably watch Matrix again.

How did it get you? What was weird about it?

The people in the show are VERY psychic in a variety of ways. They went on a plane that was the same route as one that had crashed, killing all aboard in the past. The flight number had been changed, but basically the same flight. The plane had the same problems as the one that crashed and before THE OTHERS flew on the plane, weird things had been happening on that route - people seeing ghosts, etc. Anyway, it ended up being a hydraulic problem that the dead pilot communicated to one of THE OTHERS and they manually had to refill the hydraulic system. It was due to errors with the instruments due to manufacturing shortcuts, etc.

Just the idea of the plane having the same problems, people looking for a similar solution, cover-ups, etc - was too weird.

Also the NTSB had been listening to the flight data recorder and heard the whole crash of the first plane and then heard ghostly voices after it had crashed.

Just too strange.

I didn't see the show, but the conspiracist in me would have to say that it sounded as though somebody was trying to make it politically incorrect to wonder about problems with planes. Stay tuned. Maybe next week there will be ghosts in oil wells.

After seeing the show, I would say its the other way around - kind of like the X Files. That there is a problem with the planes.

We rarely watch regular entertainment tv shows, but I did see "The Others" last night. It was pretty good, and somewhat like the TRUE story about the people and events of the plane that crashed in Florida some years back. In last night's program, they mentioned that Florida crash as Flight 505. I've read the book and also seen the made for tv movie, however, I am not sure if that was the correct number of the plane. (Sometimes memory fails these days.)

Nevertheless, this is where it gets really weird. During the shows credits at the end of the program last night, our local NBC affiliate did their usual promo. They said something like, stay tuned...terror in the skies over Jacksonville...US Air jetliner force4d to make emergency landing here.

I posted this last night after 11 pm. The news said the plane was enroute to Baltimore from Tampa when the trouble began. According to some of the passengers they interviewed, comments were made about how scared the folks were and that they were crying praying.

Now more about this emergency landing might be on the net or in the news today. I don't know what time this happened yesterday, but I had not heard about it before the late evening news.

But eerily, the trouble with the plane was the same difficulty that the show had...HTDRAULIC problems. I'm sure it was just a coincidence, but truly strange.

Now when it comes to psychic abilities, it is a PROVEN fact. The government has used remote viewers for over twenty years, the Russians have used them for even longer than that. There are over 300 US police departments using psychics. Finally, true psychics are getting the respect which has been long overdue.

The flight that crashed in the Everglades that was mentioned in the show was Eastern Airlines flight 401. It was an L-1011.

The movie was "The Ghost[s]of Flight 401.

Just checked with Amazon.Com. It was an Eastern Airlines L-1011 that crashed in the Florida Everglades in December 1972. The name of the book is The Ghost of Flight 401

Yes, The Others, is just a tv show, and even though there is a lot of theatrical license taken for the sake of story telling, poetic license of you wish, the abilities of the various cast members is a true mirror of what some psychics can do. Who ever writes this show has factually researched the phenomenon.

Wouldn't miss it.

I watched it.It was one of the dumbest shows I have ever seen.Anyone who believes any of it should have a brain scan.

Lurkless - there is no remote viewing practiced by the government. The project was a flop. There is no proof of psychic powers. Every test under controlled conditions show nothing, or shows that the alleged psychic is a fraud.

The US invested in paranormal research durint the cold war to keep up with the Russians, but finally dropped it all because nothing panned out - and you can see how far it got the Russians.

The magician James Randi has offered $1 million (the money is there in escrow) to anyone who can demonstrate psychic powers under controlled conditions. If anyone really had psychic abilities, they could be a millionaire tomorrow. See http://www.randi.org

Psychics are for entertainment only - except that exposing them or making fun of the gullible is far more entertaining.

Sheri; I also watched the show, found it interesting, but apparently Dan didn't, Many of us have psychic abilities but we have forgotten how to use them. I just won't ask Dan to ask the people at the former Home Depot about what I was able to "see" about customers. maybe dan hasn't read his nick name lately ? NEWSOME ?

-- Furie (furieart@webworkz.com), February 27, 2000.

Hey Kermit, I don't think you are too accurate. Furie - would love to hear more! And yes did think that that hydraulic plane problem in Jacksonville was just TOO bizarre when the show was about the same thing!

-- Sheri (wncy2k@nccn.net), February 27, 2000.

And I've always thought that Amazing Randi was such a toad, no wonder Kermit talks about him!

-- Sheri (wncy2k@nccn.net), February 27, 2000.

Sheri; just contact me by my address, I do have a notebook of my readings and visions, some even on the computer about people far away.like in New Zealand. I could say something about The Amazing Randi, but then I would be lowering myself to his level.

-- Furie (furieart@webworkz.com), February 27, 2000.

Furie:I can't help myself. Please tell me what it was that you read about the other customers at Home Depot.Or better yet why don't you send a mental handprint to appear on my window pane and tell me in private.LOL

-- Dan Newsome (BOONSTAR1@webtv.net), February 28, 2000.

Sheri it looks like Dan wants to know what I see, Very good Dan, I know you have rechecked to see if I have written back to your response. So here I am and re-look for my address and we'll talk,or better yet check out my web page at: http://home1.gte.net/furieart/ Thanks for responding back.
