VERY ON TOPIC: CAN WE PLEASE KEEP OUR ANSWERS CIVIL??????????????

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

People lets not resort to the name calling and I told you so attitudes of the past. We can agree to disagree in a civilized manner. Negative answers and personal attacks on ones integrity serves no positive purpose.

I'm reminded of soldiers in foxholes waiting for an attack. Some stayed calm and alert, watching 6 and were ready; others fought with each other and were caught. The feeling is strong that SOMETHING is yet to happen. Our differences are a strength, if we can accept them, we'll see IT through together.

David,

I have no use for crass invective, which evinces limited diction and lack of creativity. However, subtle barbs are usually interesting to discern in others' posts. And then there are the Master Blaster posters...

David, you are absolutely correct......when I see personal attacks on someone, it just lowers my opinion of that writer and what he or she has to say. I only wish everyone could be as courteous and civil as you are. When I see your name after a post, I know it is going to be polite.

David, Jo Ann,

I had to sit with my rear end in a bucket of water yesterday, got flamed because my opinion wasn't liked. But, I must say, there was no name calling, no dirty words, just an attempt to put me in my place in a polite fashion. Since I knew there was no chance of altering anyone's opinion. I just shut up. My point is that while I "got flamed" it was done in a very lady-like and gentlemanly fashion.

Why can't it always be that way?

Ever see "Billy Jack" ?

I do try. I really do try...

For the most part, I think that the majority of us do that David.

I don't read very many of the posts here, so I may have missed something (what's new there?), but I will always try to be civil and as polite as I can be under any given circumstance.

If I do fall off of the wagon, just verbally beat the snot out of me and I'll be good for awhile. OK?

S.O.B.

Just don't judge the rest of us by the postings of a few fringe loonies. And for your information, Y2k pro was a fucking asshole just for the pleasure of it. Don't lecture me about Y2k pro. Pro is an asshole from the other side. Others like Flint, Hoff. were civil in their disagreements. And they are to be respected.

-- X (X@X.com), February 26, 2000.

X I can't find any evidence of anyone in this thread lecturing you. Have I missed something here?

Hi David:

I like to read your posts too, you are so sane.Have no idea what went on today our server was down all day.

Coyote is not only clever, he is wise too.

Has anyone else noted how mean volcanoes have erupted this year already?

-- sandy (rstyree@overland.net), February 27, 2000.

Wai Sandy nice to see you again also. Coyote is definatly on the prowl.

Sorry David, I overreacted. But nobody except the looney tunes fringe owes the Y2k pros an apology.

-- X (X@X.com), February 27, 2000.

I like to flame people by using "their" own words. It's much more fun when you catch people putting their foot in their mouth and being hypocritical all at the same time! LL does that a lot, but of course we already know that.

Civility is a truly noble approach.

-- NoJo (RSKeiper@aol.com), February 27, 2000.

Usually 1 question mark is sufficient to convey the concept that a question is being asked.

-- Ivan (workin@ntherailroadallthelivelong.day), February 28, 2000.

Ivan since this is the first time I have seen you post I can only surmise that the guestion marks got your attention. By the way that is what they were intended to do. :o)
