Leading lady Corday

greenspun.com : LUSENET : ER Discussions : One Thread

As ER continues to undergo cast changes, I'm wondering how some of you feel about the newer lead characters: particularly Corday. I missed the first 3 seasons, so I guess I don't have a full perspective on the characters, but I like how Corday is becoming the lead female character (with Carol leaving the show). For those of you who have watched ER since the beginning and remember Susan and have gotten to know Carol quite well, how do you feel about Corday? Does she measure up? I thought her storyline with Dean (the rapist) was kind of interesting, though the current one with her mother seems a bit forced.

I totally loved Susan's character and the whole maternal thing she went through with her sister's baby. Carol has always been another fave of mine but lately she doesn't seem too involved ( probably to give new gals a chance to step up ) loved her with Doug Ross and the whole ordeal with buying a house.... I didn't like Corday at all during the first season... I thought she was too uppity and couldn't figure her out (although I empathized with her during the whole rocket romano garbage..) She seems to be softening up and showing more sides to her ( the Lucy scenes and the Mark love interest).. I have also seen Alex Kingston in a few interviews and on VH 1 and she is quite funny so I am now beginning to enjoy watching her character.

Dr Corday is by far, and always has been, my favorite! I think Alex Kingston is a great actress!

alex kingston is great......probaly my favorite actress! they should have more kerry ...after this season there will only be elizebeth and kerry who has been on the show for at least 3 seasons..they will be most likly the main 2

IMO, nobody could ever measure up to Susan & Carol (separately, and especially as a team). Elizabeth Corday is a strong character and Alex Kingston plays her well, so yes, she probably will be one of the main women, along with Laura Innes's character.

I love Elizabeth!!! She is by far my favorite character since she came on in season four, (which is when I really got hooked on ER) I can't really say about Susan, but I like what little I've seen in re- runs. Carol's okay. I like her, but she doesn't seem quite as genuine as "Lizzie."

She's got my vote for lead female character!! Buh-bye Carol, don't let the door hit ya in the....

I love the Elizabeth Corday character, and would like to see her as a lead. She's a great combination of talent and heart (remember the scene where Carol was sobbing in the lounge and Elizabeth kissed her on the head?) I used to really like Carol, but she became very sanctimonious and boring and I'm bummed her character is sort of fading into the background. With Doug gone, I had hoped she would become MORE, rather than less, of a major character.

Yes!! I love Elizabeth!! She is a strong, self-confident person, yet also very sensitive and caring. I love her relationship with Mark and the many facets of her personality that are being developed.

I adore Elizabeth and Kingston is a Real actress. One question perhaps someone could answer for me: Why is it that whenever I hear about an interview with AK, which isn't often, she is saying how she wanted the Benton relationship to continue and They sprung the whole Mark situation on her suddenly? I agree that the actors should get to have opinions :) but this is many monthes later, why does she continue to bring it up? If I must admit it, she's ruining their relationship for me- as though she doesn't want it. I know I get a bit caught up sometimes, but I just don't understand. Please help.

I can't say why Alex Kingston is stuck on the subject of the Corday/Benton relationship, but I would have liked it to continue as well. I'm a little disturbed that Eriq LaSalle had a problem with an interracial relationship on the show. But I support the Liz/Mark storyline, because she has a lot more fun with Mark. I just love to see things like her horrifying bowling technique in the last episode. I was a fan of Alex before she was on ER, and my admiration has only grown. Her interplay with Romano makes some of my favorite scenes. And as I mentioned in another thread, it was her expression at the end of "All in the Family" that brought tears to my eyes.
