Slave flash and Casio QV-3000

greenspun.com : LUSENET : Imaging Resource Discussion : One Thread

Does the Casio QV-3000 work with slave flash units that fire on the first flash they see? The Nikon Coolpix 950 does but the Olympus C-2000 does not. I have been told that some cameras use a two pulse flash. The first pulse is used by the camera to set the white balance and the second pulse takes the picture. With the Olympus you can work around the problem by turning off the on camera flash and using the pc cord to fire the main flash which will fire the slaves. It does not look like the Casio has a pc outlet.

Argh! We *really* need to routinely record this fact! We sometimes remember to mention it, and sometimes not. Forgot to with the QV-3000. You're right, it doesn't have a sync connector. Any QV-3000 owners out there yet who can answer? Meanwhile, SR Electronics (www.srelectronics.com) has a "Smart" slave that can fire on either the first or second flash.

From my experiment, my MX 1700 works well with my small slave unit (auto/force/slow sync. flash mode) whereas my friend's Olympus C1000 doesn't.

The casio 3000ex has just one flash pulse and works well with my hotshoe slave trigger.
