Gore's comments on the innocent verdict...

greenspun.com : LUSENET : TimeBomb 2000 (Y2000) : One Thread

Vice president Al Gore released a statement calling upon people to remain calm and refrain from violence in the wake of the verdict, and promising a thorough and fair review of the facts in the case by the Justice Department.

How many cops were murdered last year while protecting and serving? Not a one of you who posted on this thread ever had the balls to be a cop. They also are the first one's you'd call if you needed help. If this guy had been conforming to acceptable societal behavior, he would never had been gunned down by the NYCPD. I am in total agreement with the verdict. Justice has been served. What a great country we live in!

The F.O.P. needs to support the honorable Senator John McCain. He's the only republican that can beat Gore like a drum. Gore is an asshole!

Gee Vern...I guess the Rodney King beating was justified also huh? And the Hatian guy they rammed the broomstick up?

Vern;

I had the guts. Even law enforcement screws up sometimes. The fact tha so many people complicate confrontations by acting stupid as the victim did in this case does make things one hell of a lot more difficult. Never-the-less we do need to remember the fellow who was killed wasn't carrying a gun. I do think the law enforcement folks made the right call from the testimony I heard. It seems the victim pulled a wallet as if it were a weapon and pointed it at the police. That was a stupid move. Still we don't shoot people for being stupid.

I believe the innocent verdict is appropriate because in this particular instance the citizen seemed to be deliberatly behaving in a manner intended to intimidate the police. Since he is dead, we will never know what possessed him to pretend his wallet was a weapon. The reason I feel the police were justified? Because I know that there are derringers that masquerade as wallets... That poor stupid man. If someone pulls a rubber knife in a bar and another fellow kills him because he thinks it is real... well too bad.

Now Vern, on to your problem. It takes a very special person to put on the blue and the shield, one without a chip on his shoulder. If you can't protect them without being hatefull toward them, do something else.

Rodney King?..justified. Diallo justified? maybe. The Haitian guy? NO WAY. Vern, yeah majority of cops just trying to do their job, I believe so far. Bore sees a juicy plum for himself and Hitlery. Just watch.

"Acceptable Societal Behavior?"

When did someone decide that hanging out in your vestibule and being afraid of being surrounded by four cops was not "acceptable"?

The stoop is dimly lit, right? The cops say they could not tell his wallet was not a gun. So how do they say he fit the description of the perp they were looking for that night??

His only crime was being black at night. That is the only general description he could have fit.

He did not respond as he did not understand english.

Vern-I hope you are never suspected of a crime in a foreign country where you do not know the language. Oh wait, they do not shoot first and ask questions later in most countries.

Hmm! I wonder what color the audience was when Gore made this comment. Of course what do you expect from someone who says he invented the Internet.

The area was dimly lit & he pulled out his wallet and the police said they thought it was a gun. OK I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, but to shoot someone 41 times and only hit him 19 times tells me they were shooting " wildly". I have a friend who is a police officer and she shot a thief leaving the scene of the crime. She didn't shoot him 41 times she carefully aimed and shot a running man in the leg to bring him down! Anyone who is so easily out of control,as these four men were should not be on any police force or have a gun for that matter. IMHO

Very interesting response by Gore concerning the verdict of NEW YORKS FINEST ? Right ! shooting 41 times and only hit the guy 19 times, must be ROOKIES,with an itchy trigger fingers/thumbs. Makes you want to visit NEW YORK and stand in a lighted hallway and wait. But getting back to Gore, if President will he have the same answer if there is a confrontation with another country ? Ooooops,be nice to us don't hurt us,please. Sorry Al no votes for you.

The FOP?

Those bastards and McCrank DO deserve each other.

Both of them are against RKBA, both of them are PRO Big Gov't.

I wonder if Bush is seeking the endorsement of the LEAA? They're the GOOD outfit.

Richard,

I am probably going to vote for McCain, but to enlighten you on one point, Gore never said he invented the internet. What he said was "I took a leadership role in the creation of the Internet". (www.realchange.org) He based this on the FACT that he was one of the early supporters of funding the conversion from ARPANET as a young congressman.

Its apparent from your attitude that you do ZERO research before opening your mouth and inserting your foot.

vern, you should be a cop.or a pollytician! head in the sand or maybe it is where they put the broomstick!
